
The endurance group, headed up by lead coach Julian Emery, has established a reputation for being one of the most competitive and team-orientated athletics clubs within the South West.
Our athletes regularly top the rankings, individually or as a team, in cross-country league meetings
Endurance covers running distances from 800m upwards and the group competes in open and regional track meetings, the Gwent Cross-country league and road relay races. The group includes athletes who have represented England as well as those who regularly participate in school, county and regional championships.
Our international athletes include, with year of winning first ‘vest’:

* 2022: Matt Howard: GB, Triathlon
* 2021: Alan Baker: England Masters, 5K road race
* 2009: Sofie Andersen, England, Orienteering
* 2009: Cecilie Andersen, England, Orienteering
* 2009: Ben Maliphant , England, Orienteering
Recent awards include:
* 2023: Ellie Wallace, South West Athletics Senior Female Athlete of the Year
* 2023: Julian Emery: runner-up, South West Athletics Coach of the Year
Weekly training sessions take place:
* Tuesday 6.15pm – 7.30pm QEH Sports Ground Failand
* Thursday 6.15pm – 7.30pm Clevedon Road Session meeting at Salthouse car park
* Saturday 9.30am – 11am Whitehall Track, Bristol
While there is no limit on pace for open sessions, the club expects members to be capable of comfortably running 5km.
Julian is supported by Russ Forsbrook and parents at our Open sessions in Clevedon; in Priory these are led by Jim Wootton and Susie Duncan.
