NSAC shine at National Road Relay Champs in Birmingham
North Somerset Athletic Club travelled to Birmingham again to compete in the National Road Relays on October 5th and achieved great results accross all age groups
North Somerset AC’s junior teams put on a stellar performance at the prestigious National Road Relay Championships held at Sutton Park, Birmingham. Facing off against top talent from across the country, the club’s young athletes delivered standout results in several age categories.
The race, known for its challenging 3-leg format covering 3.88 km of undulating terrain, saw fierce competition this year with big numbers in every age group.
Leading the charge were the U13 Boys, who stole the spotlight with an impressive 9th-place finish out of over 50 teams. Ed S kicked things off, Seb B then moved the team up from 20th to 17th, before Olly F delivered a heroic final leg, clocking in the 9th fastest time of the day at 13:20 to secure their top 10 finish. The B team also impressed, landing 27th place, with Arthur A and Toby B making significant improvements on their previous times at the Midlands event just two weeks earlier.
The U13 Girls also showed grit, finishing 22nd, with Isabella M slashing over a minute off her Midlands time, and Lucy B running a superb anchor leg, vaulting the team up eight places.
In the U15 Boys race, both North Somerset teams put in strong efforts, finishing 19th and 44th out of 60 teams. Joel W and Euan M were standout performers, both clocking personal bests on the course with times of 13:12 and 13:13, respectively.
The U17 Girls held their own, led by Estelle L (15:33) and a course personal best from Pippa H (15:32), ultimately finishing 26th after strong contributions from Frank P.
With over 70 teams competing in the U17 Men’s race, North Somerset’s boys delivered another solid performance, securing a 26th place finish. Leo D led the way with the team’s fastest time of 12:30, backed by strong runs from Stan B and Joe F.
