The club achieves this with specialist training, participating in regional leagues and encouraging signing up for open meetings.
North Somerset Athletic Club has an impressive track record competing in league and open meetings during both the summer and the winter.
Our Summer schedule sees the club actively taking part in both the South West Athletics league, featuring clubs from around the South West, and the Avon Track & Field League against a handful of local athletic clubs in and around North Somerset.
The open meetings the club encourages athletes to challenge themselves against others of a similar ability include those at Gloucester, Cheltenham, Yeovil and Yate, as well as regional BMC 800m and 1,500m races at Exeter.
For elite athletes, the Sapphire South West League is an over-arching points-based competition covering a series of open meeting to which individuals can sign up to on their own account. There are, then, end of season awards for the best performing athletes.
During the Winter we are a longstanding member of the Gwent League, which hosts a series of five cross-country races in South Wales and Bristol at Blaise Castle.
In addition, many of our athletes compete in school, county and regional championships. Each year the club also has representatives taking part at English Schools and National competitions.
