Phillippa Mannings, known as Pippa or Pip, won the ‘Cerebral Palsy Sport UK Senior Female Track Athlete of the Year’ for 2015. Having been unable to train or compete in 2014 due to illness, this year she came back with a vengeance, competing widely across the Country and achieving significant personal bests in both the 100m and 200m sprints. She is classified as T35 by UK Athletics but competes against both disabled and able-bodied athletes. She belongs to North Somerset Athletic Club and is coached by Chris Millard, and also trains with Mark Lodge alongside other disabled athletes.
When racing in Doncaster she was encouraged to try the 400m, did not enjoy it, and has vowed never to attempt this again!
“Pippa joined us after London 2012, has trained hard, and despite the setback in 2014, she has showed consistent improvement. She is a popular and lively member of the Group, and we all follow her achievements with admiration. To bounce back after last year shows character, and is the mark of a Champion. Hopefully she’s not far away from National recognition, and we will keep working towards this” Stated Coach Millard
