After a stunning year for North Somerset Athletic Club, a night at England Athletics Regional Volunteer Awards saw it return with two prestigious Awards. Held at Exeter Golf and Country Club, and hosted by five-time Olympian Jo Pavey, the occasion saw Awards for Athletes and Volunteers from across the South West alike. The winner for each trophy has the opportunity of winning the National Award at the Annual ‘Hall of Fame’ evening in Coventry. The first award was the ‘Athletics or Running Club of the Year’ award, and NSAC beat some highly-considered clubs to take the trophy. With some wonderful words from the South West Regional Council, who decide the winners, NSAC is a well-respected club with plenty of admirers in the Region. This year has seen NSAC return to the top of the pile, winning the local track & field league, sustaining the 400+ young athletes at the club, constructing the latest phase of its training venue, and continuing its unique ethos.
Coach of the Year was awarded to Head Coach Chris Millard. Founder of NSAC in 2004, Chris has been the driving force behind every development of the Club, steering it to its current high.
“These are exciting times, with much more to come. Our endurance squad will do some damage this winter in the cross-country and on the roads, we hope to retain our Track & Field title, we are entering into a new league for our older athletes, developing young (and old) leaders/coaches, and commencing a huge fundraising push to enable us to finish our training facility. We continue to push on. A heart-felt ‘thank you’ to everyone who has supported the Club over the years. Success comes through support of the Club, which is recognized and appreciated”
NSAC would love to hear from anyone who feels they may have skills that could be helpful. Support at sessions, fundraising experience, help with officiating, and many other roles. Email email@example.com
