Midland Road Relays at Sutton Park

A beautiful day in Sutton Park was the backdrop for a great day at the Midland Road Relays.

First order of the day was the Under-15 Boys, beginning with Ollie C who ran a strong leg (13:28mins) to put the team in 10th place. He was followed up by Will M who overtook four people to place the team in 4th (14:13mins), handing over to Louie B. Louie ran a heroic final leg, bringing the team home in a very respectable 5th place.

Our other (incomplete!) Under-15 Boys team was led off by Sam H, who ran a fantastic leg (14:19mins) to bring the team in 21st, handing over to Ollie A who ran 15:15mins to overtake two people and bring the team in after the second leg in 19th place.

Next up the Under-17 Boys Ollie L had a fantastic run on first leg, bringing the team in in 6th place with a fantastic time of 12:28mins.  He was followed by Ben H, who set off in pursuit of top three and brought the team in 4th place with a time of 13:01mins.  Alfie set off trying to bring that medal home but, following a week of illness, didn’t have enough in him on the day. He ran a time of 12:56mins , and they finished a great 4th place overall.

Our second Under-17 Team started with Jamie VDV, who finished the first leg in 24th place. His time of 13:51mins is a fantastic improvement from last year by nearly 2 minutes! Max D raised the team three places, finishing in 21st with a time of 14:02mins. This again represents a massive improvement from last year. Callum D brought the team home in 21st place running a time of 15:04mins.

Then came Endurance Coach Julian and the Under-20s who have to run in the seniors. They finished in 42nd place out of 100+ teams. Julian ran leg 1, Sam G on two then Will C on three, Jack W on fourth, Kes P in fifth then Matt H bought  the team home in a fantastic 42nd place and the fastest time in the team of 19:47mins.

A fantastic day had by all, some wonderful performances and what a great start to the Cross Country and Road Running Season!
