Five athletes from North Somerset travelled to Liverpool for the next leg of the UK Cross Challenge.
In the under-15 boys event, rapidly improving Callum Smith produced a gutsy performance to finish 26th of the 135 competitors. His time of 10;26 compares favourably with the winner’s 9;35.
There were two NSAC competitors in the under-15 girls. In a field of 95 athletes, Olivia Burton was 23rd in a time of 11;38, with Rosie Whitehead just behind in 35th. Her time of 11;54 just a minute behind the winner’s time of 10;47.
The under-17 boys saw 129 athletes line up. Joe Gentry’s finish position of 70th in a time of 19;37 commendable, with the winner crossing the finish line in 17;28 minutes
Mike Proffitt, in his first year at under-20, is working hard against athletes two years older. His finisih position of 112nd out of 121 and his time 24;49 with the winner in 20;44 shows promise as he works his way up the age group.
